Application deadlines for the winter semester 2024/2025

First-degree programmes (Bachelor’s, teacher-training and state-examined programmes)

Bachelor's degree programs with local admission restrictions (both first and higher semesters) or certain teaching degree programs or teaching subjects (first or higher semesters):

• Application deadline to 15 July 2024
• Applies to all applicants, regardless of the year in which they obtained their higher education entrance qualification
• Letters of admission (for applications to begin a programme in the first subject semester) will normally be sent out at the beginning of August. The enrolment deadlines are specified in the letter of admission.

Bachelor's degree programmes or teaching subjects that are not subject to entry restrictions

• Enrolment period: from now to end of September. This enrolment period also applies to international applicants with a foreign higher education entrance qualification, provided that when they request enrolment they already have valid preliminary review documentation from uni-assist and can provide proof of adequate proficiency in German.
• If you are an international applicant who is submitting an initial application for enrolment to study a non-restricted-entry degree programme and you need a letter of admission from Saarland University so that a visa can be issued prior to enrolment, please submit your application by no later than the end of August 2024.

Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy:

• Submission deadline for applicants who gained their higher education entrance qualification before 16 January of the current calendar year: 31 May 2024
• Submission deadline for applicants who gained their higher education entrance qualification after 15 January of the current calendar year: 15 July 2024
• for any school graduates who acquired their university entrance qualification in a state outside of Germany or an EU or EEA member state, regardless of the date of graduation, by 15 July 2024

Master's degree programmes

For application deadlines for Master's degree programmes see Master's degree programmes. If the application needs to be submitted via the online admission application form (SIM portal) and not directly to the relevant department that manages the programme,  this is now possible.

Higher-level entry in first-degree programmes

The application period for a higher-level entry is the same as for the same programme for the first semester.
