A workshop is an interactive learning event in which a relatively small group works intensively on a specific topic. In contrast to lectures or seminars, the focus here is on the participants: content is adapted to their needs, they can actively participate, ask questions, exchange ideas and solve tasks together.
Characteristics of a workshop:
- Short formats: Usually 2-6 hours, occasionally several days
- Theory & practice: Combination of theoretical inputs and practical exercises to deepen knowledge and improve skills.
- Workshops are individual events: They form a self-contained unit with a specific topic or focus.
- Focused: Techniques and skills in a specific area take center stage.
- Small groups: Participants work in smaller groups, learning new skills or applying existing knowledge.
The aim of a workshop is for participants to expand their knowledge and skills, learn and develop new problem-solving strategies or new ideas to tackle specific tasks (better and more easily).
We offer workshops/courses in German (from B1 / B2) and English (from B2).
- German B2 level is required for some German-language courses.
- In the German-language courses from German B1 level, the lecturers are happy to take into account the language skills of the participants. It is always possible to switch briefly to English for questions or summaries.
The recommended language level can be found in the respective course details.
Our events are part of the Compass program at the Teaching and Learning Centre (ZeLL) of Saarland University.
For participation in selected workshops/courses you can:
- receive a certificate of attendance (ZeLL) by e-mail and
- also earn CP / ECTS credits for certain subject areas or study programs (certificate of equivalence from ZeLL, e.g. 30 hours = 1 CP/ECTS credit).
- It is also possible to obtain the Key Competencies Certificate (3 CP/ECTS credits).
Information on this can be found here.
