Starting out: Receiving your formal certificate of appointment and the annual welcome event

Once the recruitment process has been concluded, you will receive your formal certificate of appointment at the Saarland State Chancellery or, if you have been appointed to a junior professorship, your certificate of appointment will be presented to you by the University President.

If you have been appointed to a W2 or W3 professorship (not a junior professorship), the State Chancellery will contact you with details about the date of the presentation ceremony. If you have been appointed to a junior professorship, you will receive written notification of the date on which you will receive your formal letter of appointment from the University President.

A welcome event is also held each year to which all newly appointed professors are invited. The invitation is normally sent out at the beginning of a calendar year. All new professors at Saarland University are encouraged to attend the welcome event, which offers an excellent opportunity for networking and socializing.
