Element Analysis & Mass Spectrometry
The Core Facility Elemental Analysis & Mass Spectrometry on the Saarbrücken Campus at Saarland University has modern methods for high-resolution structural elucidation of natural and synthetically produced organic and inorganic molecules as well as methods for mass determination and determination of functional groups in macromolecular systems (FT-ICR-MS and GC-MS).
CHN-S analysis enables the determination of the element content of the elements carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen, oxygen and sulphur in organic compounds in the percentage range.
By combining several techniques, almost all elements of the periodic table can be recorded.
In the field of mass spectrometry, modern methods for high-resolution structural elucidation of natural and synthetically produced molecules as well as methods for mass determination and determination of functional groups in macromolecular systems (FT-ICR-MS and GC-TOF MS) are provided.
The equipment center is supported by two chairs, which contribute their respective expertise and equipment to the center.
The centre is available to all members of Saarland University as well as external scientists and institutions, subject to the terms of use.
