Advanced Light Microscopy (ALM-CF)

To understand the secret of Ca2+ signalling in cardiomyocytes, we investigate the elementary Ca2+ release units (CRUs) in electrically stimulated Ca2+ transients of cardiomyocytes. We first isolate the elemental Ca2+ releases from these CRUs in cardiac Ca2+ transients using advanced methods and then quantify the effects of physiological or pathological conditions applied to these CRUs, e.g. slow Ca2+ signalling via IP3 receptors, adrenergic stimulation or in the state of cardiac hypertrophy or heart failure.

The core facility is available to all members of Saarland University as well as external researchers and institutions, subject to the terms of use.
