Most members of Saarland University's workforce have been recruited to academic and research positions. We currently employ 1,625 academic research associates and 1,363 student research assistants.

A total of 294 professors (including 23 junior professors) are engaged in teaching students and conducting research at the university's six faculties.

1,544 employees in the administrative, technical and skilled manual sectors

These members of staff are employed in the university's central administration as well as in the various faculties. They provide many of the key support services to our academic and research staff.

46 trainees and apprentices

Saarland University offers traineeships and apprenticeships in six different areas and three cooperative degree programmes. Each year, we also offer seven young people the opportunity to work as a volunteer at the university (e.g. in one of the university's outreach projects).
