Convention de stage (internship agreement)

Preparatory steps

Please make sure that you have all the necessary documents before submitting your request to the International Office (see check list):

  • Certificate of enrolment from Saarland University that covers the entire period of your internship. (Note: If the period of your internship spans more than one semester, you will need to provide certificates of enrolment for both semesters).
  • Copies of both sides of your health insurance card (including the European health insurance card EHIC)
  • Proof that you have public liability insurance covering the period of your internship
  • Proof that you have accident insurance covering the period of your internship

Some companies in French-speaking countries require an internship agreement (Convention de Stage) to be signed, so that they can confirm to the relevant authorities that the internship is being undertaken as part of an official education programme. Document templates are available from Saarland University. Documents may be signed electronically (e.g. using a digital scan of your signature).

Important note: As a rule, Saarland University will not sign internship agreements that were drawn up by the host company or organization. If the company or organization will only host an intern on the basis of such an agreement, the document will need to be carefully reviewed by the university's legal department. This process can take several weeks to complete.

How do I apply?

The documents mentioned in the section above must be uploaded to our dedicated application portal. To ensure that there is sufficient time for your request to be processed and for the internship agreement to be signed by Saarland University, you will need to submit ALL required documents no later than four weeks before your internship is due to start. The International Office reserves the right not to process applications received after this time.

Please comply with the following rules when using the SIM application portal:

  • Log in to the portal using the same log-in data that you use to access MS Teams via your Saarland University account. Do not use a different email address!
  • Please ensure that all of the information you provide is complete and correct.
  • Do not fill in the form on your mobile phone.

If you have any questions about the application procedure, please contact us by email at: erasmuspraktikum(at)uni-saarland.de.
