How does the German political system work?
The seminar introduces a central subfield of political science: The political system theory. The learning objective is, firstly, knowledge of basic political science terms and concepts (Part I: Fundamentals). Secondly, the course deals with the function and structure of the most important actors and institutions of a democratic political system, taking the Federal Republic of Germany as an example (Parts II and III: Polity and Politics). Thirdly, the functioning and performance of the German political system is dealt with on the basis of selected policy areas (Part IV: Policies). At the end of the seminar, participants will have gained a good overview of the functioning of the German political system.
