Prof. Dr. Marc Schneider
Professor Schneider's group deals with the characterisation and use of drug delivery systems.
The focus here is on understanding basic interaction mechanisms in order to be able to produce targeted delivery systems. In particular, the interaction of particles with biological barriers such as the lungs is investigated using fluorescence and atomic force microscopy, among other methods, and should contribute to a general understanding. Systems on different length scales are used (nanoparticle and microparticle systems).
The following research areas are of particular interest:
- Production of nanoparticles under control of the characteristic parameters
- Targeted modification of surface properties based on modular physico-chemical principles
- Use of high-resolution, modern microscopy techniques to visualise and test the elastic properties
- Safety/hazardousness of nanoparticles
- Combined systems of nano- and microparticles
- Application forms for probiotics
