Prof. Dr. Karen Lienkamp
The Lienkamp Group works on the design, synthesis, characterization and processing of polymer materials. Polymer-based materials, components and systems have a broad application spectrum, from electronics to biomedical research. We use precise polymer synthesis methods and modern polymer characterization and processing techniques (in solution, on surfaces, and in bulk). By combining these, we obtained well-defined polymer-based materials and systems that can help meet important challenges of the 21st century, for example in the fields of sustainability, health care, or clean water and energy supply for a growing world population.
Our current activities focus on:
- Bioinspired and biomimetic polymers,
- adaptive and stimulus-responsive polymer systems,
- surface modification and surface structuring using polymers,
- polymer materials and sustainability.
