The working group is concerned with the different meanings of spaces for people - physical-material spaces, spaces constructed through discourses and symbols, spaces produced through concrete everyday actions - as well as with the influence of human actions on space. Human geography research and teaching with a European focus means asking how different spaces in Europe - regions, border spaces, cities, neighbourhoods - change through society, the economy, planning and politics and in turn also structure them. Human geography offers a versatile interface between people and materiality and deals with current issues such as dynamics on housing markets, digitalisation of urban development or spatial dissemination of knowledge.
