European Politics and its Current Challenges: Crises, Euroscepticism and Lack of Support

In this tutorial, we will look at European politics and its current challenges. We first looked at the essentials of the European Union's political system in order to get a general understanding of how European politics works. We then looked at the current challenges facing Europe, the European Union and its member states:

• the multi-level design of the European Union's political system and its consequences,
• the multiple crises of the recent past (financial and euro crisis, refugee crisis) and the present (pandemic, Ukraine war, climate change),
• the increasing Euroscepticism (at the latest) since the 2014 European elections,
• the lack of support and interest or knowledge on the part of the European population.
