Professor Dr. Christian Ducho

Prof. Ducho's research group focuses on the design and synthesis of new active ingredients, primarily anti-infectives. This involves combining working techniques of synthetic organic chemistry with analytical and biochemical methods.

The following research areas are of particular interest::

- Functional natural product chemistry: synthesis, properties and biosynthesis of nucleoside antibiotics, intermediates and enzymology of bacterial cell wall biosynthesis

- Nucleic acids as potential active ingredients: backbone modifications, labeling and functionalization of oligonucleotides, delivery
