Recognition of credits (ECTS)

Recognition of credits (ECTS)

The classes you attend abroad must total at least 15 ECTS.

Before you leave

Before you leave for your stay abroad, you must complete a Learning Agreement. Your Learning Agreement will specify all the classes you would like to take at the host university, and their respective ECTS. Please enter these details into an Excel spreadsheet. Here, you will find further information on how to fill in the spreadsheet. Please add “_firstnamelastname” to the file name of the Learning Agreement and the Excel spreadsheet, sign the agreement and email both documents to the Erasmus Coordination Office. The Learning Agreement must be signed by you, by our Erasmus Coordinator and by the coordinator of your host university.

Your Learning Agreement may still be amended abroad. In that case, however, you need to have it stamped at the Erasmus Office of your host university and then forward it to our Erasmus Office at Saarland University. In that case, please note that ECTS will not be credited automatically. You will need to submit an application to that effect to the respective Board of Examiners of the relevant department.

Before you return

Towards the end of your stay abroad, your host university will issue you with a Transcript of Records which contains the classes you have attended, the respective ECTS and the grades you have achieved.
