Professional perspectives for computational linguists
The Computational Linguistics Bachelor's programme provides you with a broad basic education in language technology, which can be further deepened in the Saarland University’s Language Science and Technology Master's programme or serve as a stepping stone into your career.
We currently rate the career prospects as very good and expect them to remain so in the foreseeable future given the rapid technological development in the fields of artificial intelligence, machine learning and natural language processing.
Our graduates are predominantly employed in research and development as natural language processing specialists, data scientists, machine learning engineers or in closely related fields. Employers are mainly medium-sized and large companies in the information technology sector, but also automotive manufacturers and suppliers, banks and insurance companies. Around one third of our (Master's) graduates pursue subsequent doctoral studies.
