The Research Committee of the UdS is funding Dr. Andrea Wurm's book project on the Saarlor Coal Union with over 8,000 euros. It is a project in the Digital Humanities, specifically the processing of bilingual French-German meeting minutes from the council of the binational coal sales company of the state mining industry in Saarland and Lorraine. With the support of research assistants these are to be transcribed, annotated, aligned and made searchable as an electronic corpus. In addition, digital methods such as topic modeling will be applied to the data. This corpus, along with the evaluation of other archival sources of the company, will form the basis for a monographic presentation of its activities and the analysis of its translation ecosystem as well as the discursive negotiation of various boundaries within Saarlor.
