A successful 33rd TaCoS in Saarbrücken!

The 33rd edition of the Conference for Computational Linguistics Students (TaCoS) was successfully held at the UdS in 2024. From May 16 to 18, more than 60 participants were able to exchange ideas, listen to 12 exciting lectures and attend 4 keynote talks by professors and lecturers as well as a panel discussion.

The speakers provided an exciting and wide-ranging program, from the automatic generation of source code to language transformation and language models. The keynote talks by scientists from the UdS were also particularly interesting. These reflected current developments in language processing, such as large language models and their properties.

The panel discussion focused on the future: representatives from industry and academia spoke about the various aspects of their professions and answered questions from the participants.

The main goal of the organizers was to bring together students from different universities and backgrounds so that they could discuss all topics related to computational linguistics and make new contacts. The results of a live survey in the final sessions confirmed that this goal was achieved.

Next year, TaCoS will take place at Ruhr-Universität Bochum for the first time in its history.

Many thanks and congratulations to the organizing team!
