Karen Lienkamp joined Saarland University as the Professor of Polymer Materials in 2021.
CV
Karen Lienkamp studied Natural Sciences and Chemistry at the University of Cambridge, UK and the Freie Universität Berlin, Germany from 1998 to 2003. She then joined the Max-Planck Institute for Polymer Research and graduated with a PhD from the Johannes-Gutenberg-Universität in Mainz, Germany, in 2006. She spent three years as a postdoctoral reseracher at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA, USA. From 2011 to 2021, she was a Junior Research Group Leader at the Institute of Microsystems Engineering and the Freiburg Center for Interactive Materials and Bioinspired Technologies of the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität in Freiburg, Germany. In 2017, she submitted her habilitation and obtained the Venia Legendi in Microsystems Engineering.
Karen Lienkamp's research was funded by various competitive funding programs, including the Emmy-Noether program of the German Research Foundation, a Starting Grant from the European Research Council, and various programs of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. Her Chair at Saarland University is co-funded by the German Research Foundation with a Heisenberg Professorship.
