Polymer materials for the 21st century
The Polymer Materials Group (aka Chair of Polymer Materials) is dedicated to designing, making, studying and processing novel polymeric materials. Polymer-based materials, components and systems have a broad spectrum of applications, ranging from electronics to biomedical research. We use precise polymer synthesis methods and modern polymer characterization and processing techniques (in solution, on surfaces, and in bulk).
By combining these, we generate novel polymer materials with well-defined properties. Our aim is to create materials that can help solve important global challenges of the 21st century, for example sustainable development, improving healthcare, and securing clean water access and energy supply for a growing world population.
Particular research interests are:
- Bioactive polymer coatings
- Bioinspired and biomimetic polymer materials
- Adaptive and stimulus-responsive polymer systems
- Polymers at interfaces
- Sustainable polymer materials
