Formal Issues

The double degree is optional. After enrolling in the MA Translation Science and Technology programme, you can decide whether you prefer the national variety of the programme or want to obtain a double degree.

As a double degree student, you will spend the first academic year (semesters 1 and 2) at Saarland University and the second academic year (semesters 3 and 4) at the corresponding partner university. 

After successfully completing your studies, you will obtain two independent degrees enabling you to use two academic titles.

Requirements

The general admission requirements of the MA Translation Science and Technology programme should be met:

  • Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent university qualification.
  • Proof of proficiency in your B language(s): either a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject or a certificate of proficiency at C1 level.
  • If an applicant who does not have a German higher education entrance qualification and who has completed a degree in which German was not the language of instruction is able to demonstrate C2 proficiency in English or their chosen romance language, it is sufficient for them to have C1 proficiency in German.

Accepted language certificates are for example the following:

  •  German: DSH, PNDS, TestDaF, Goethe certificates
  •  English: Cambridge, EILTS, TOEFL, TOEIC
  •  French: DALF
  • Spanish: DELE, SIELE
  • Italian: CILS, AIL

The participation in the double degree programme is also subject to the following requirements:

  • After completing their first academic year in Saarbrücken (two semesters), students must have approx. 60 ECTS credit points.
  • All candidates must undergo a selection procedure to be admitted to the double degree programme.
