The project PINTS (pause-internal phonetic particles), coordinated by Bernd Möbius and Jürgen Trouvain and financed by DFG and partially by Mangold funds, has now been completed with three PhD theses. The topics were: "The phonetics of speech breathing: pauses, physiology, acoustics, and perception" by Raphael Werner (defended in October 2023), "Evaluating pause particles and their functions in natural and synthesized speech in laboratory and lecture settings" by Mikey Elmers (defended in November 2023) and "Filler particles: Phonetic details, cross-linguistic comparisons, and the recall effect" by Beeke Muhlack (defended in April 2024). Congratulations to the successful PhD candidates!
