In May, the research group of Prof. Dr. Dietrich Klakow, in collaboration with two German companies Kauz GmbH and Aristech GmbH specialised in language technologies, launched the SLIK project (synthesis of linguistic corpus data). The goal of this project is to make it possible to generate large domain-specific corpora out of a very restricted input data by using the data augmentation technique. This technology will be especially beneficial for small and medium-sized companies, as it will enable them to create speech data necessary to train their automatic text- and speech-processing systems. The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and is expected to finish in April 2024.
