German nationals who have a foreign higher education entrance qualification and the required level of proficiency in German
Official notification of recognition
German nationals with a foreign higher education entrance qualification need to provide notification that their school-leaving certificate has been officially recognized by the Ministry of Education of the German federal state in which they are resident or in which they are studying. In Saarland, this service is provided by the Saarland Ministry of Education and Culture.
You will need to show that your foreign HEEQ has been officially recognized when you apply for admission to study at Saarland University, so please ensure that you obtain the necessary documentation in good time before the application deadline expires. Preliminary review documentation from uni-assist is not required.
If your official notification of recognition does not contain a qualifying remark stating that your German language skills are not at the required level, you may assume that your German proficiency has been assessed as adequate for university study. To avoid receiving a qualifying remark, please make sure that you include all relevant language certificates in addition to your foreign higher HEEQ when you apply for official notification of recognition.
How to apply
Applications are submitted online via the application portal managed by the Department of Computer Science.
Both programmes start in the winter semester, but applications can be submitted from mid-November of the previous year. The application period closes on 15 July. For details regarding the application process, please refer to the Computer Science FAQ page.
The application must be submitted via the dialogue-oriented service procedure (DoSV) – online application interface (AntOn) managed by Hochschulstart. Your application documents must then be sent by post to Hochschulstart.
