Fostering sustainability and fighting the global climate crisis

Saarland University is committed to fostering sustainable development and to playing its role in addressing the global climate crisis. The university will be implementing a variety of energy-saving measures at the earliest opportunity in order to cushion the impact of sharply rising energy costs and potential future gas shortages as well as meeting federal government requirements.

The aim of the university's energy efficiency initiative is to save as much energy as possible through a proportionate response that takes into account the university's energy needs and maintains the safety and security of university sites. The focus will be on introducing technical, organizational, infrastructural and behavioural changes that will have an impact both in the short term as well as in the medium and long term.
