About

Dear Colleague,

Welcome to the web pages of the Academic Staff Council where you can find information about our activities and services.

Who we are

We are a team of colleagues working in a variety of areas (teaching, central and interdepartmental institutions, etc.) and roles. Our diverse team comprises employees and civil servants (Beamter). Our shared goal is advocating for employee issues at the university and to advise and support you as an employee on matters requiring discussion with your line manager, the university management or university administration.

What we do

We represent your interests in connection with your position and work as well as with regard to fundamental matters regulated by the university management, such as fixed-term employment contracts and organizational structure. A brief overview of key employment law issues will be provided by us when you start your new position. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to discuss them with us in person. You can also find further information in our collection of useful links and official documents and our other online information.

You can also come to us at any time with your questions and concerns. We will be happy to advise you on contractual matters or any work conflicts that arise. If needed, we can assist you by getting involved on your behalf. Rest assured that any enquiry you make will be treated with complete confidentiality.

We represent your general interests in numerous committees and working groups, for example with regard to the following topics: Occupational health and safety, occupational health management, library project, University IT Centre (HIZ), internal vacancies, personnel development, doctoral study regulations, PROWIS, teleworking.

At the semesterly staff meetings (this time must be recognized as working time by line managers!), we regularly inform you about important developments at the university.

Interested?

You are welcome to call us to arrange an appointment. You can also simply drop by to find out about our work (over a cup of coffee...), share your suggestions or perhaps you might even be interested in joining us!

We wish you every success at Saarland University and hope you enjoy your work.
