Plan for the program
The so-called entry year is intended to provide a varied introduction to the STEM subjects and offer students the opportunity to orientate themselves better. An overview of the courses we recommend for the first semesters can be found on the “entry year” page.
At the ende of the entry year (end of 2nd semester), students decide on a main subject (list of possible main subjects), which determines the further course of study. A change of specialisation is possible. For this one needs to contact the examination office (bscplusmint(at)ps-mint.uni-saarland.de).
During this time, students pursue the central study plans of their chosen main subject to the extent of approximately 150 ECTS points. The remaining 90 points of the 240 ECTS points required for graduation can be freely selected from all subject groups at the university.
For questions regarding the “free” points please contact Carsten Baltes
After successfully completing the Bachelor's thesis and obtaining all 240 ECTS credits required, students officially receive their Bachelor's degree. This qualifies them for a Master's degree in one of the STEM subjects (additional requirements may apply depending on the chosen specialisation). A list of the Master's degree programmes at Saarland University can be viewed here.
The broadly diversified Bachelor Plus MINT degree also provides a good entry into professional life.
Additionally, if the final mark is better than 1.5, it is also possible to directly apply as a PhD student at the natural science faculty here at university.
Ms Teams for the study program
This program has its own MS Teams embedded in the IT infrastructure of the university. Students that are enrolled to the Bachelors Plus MINT program can join the team here.
Alternatively students can scan the QR-code on this page or contact the student cooridnator.
The Bachelor-Plus MINT course is funded by the ‘Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft’ and the ‘Heinz Nixdorf Stiftung’ as part of the ‘Innovative Studieneingangsphase’ programme.
110 universities took part in the call for applications. Saarland University is one of the five competition winners with its Bachelor-Plus MINT degree programme.
