Bio-sketch
Henning Madry is a German orthopaedic surgeon and clinician-scientist. He obtained his MD (summa cum laude) in 1996 from Humboldt University in Berlin after pursuing his doctoral research at the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine under the supervision of Detlev Ganten. He was resident with Norbert Haas at the Department of Trauma Surgery, Charité Medical School, Berlin. Dr. Madry`s postdoctoral research fellowships were at the Massachusetts General Hospital of Harvard Medical School (Steven B. Trippel) and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Gordana Vunjak-Novakovic, Robert Langer). He was board-certified in Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery in 2004 working with the late Dieter Kohn. He was appointed as the first Chair of Experimental Orthopaedics in Germany in 2009 and is the Director of the Center of Experimental Orthopaedics. Henning is a founding member of the “Cartilage Net of the Greater Region". He is also the founding Editor-in-Chief of Osteoarthritis and Cartilage Open (Elsevier) and of the Journal of Experimental Orthopaedics (SpringerNature). Dr. Madry currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Osteoarthritis Research Society International (OARSI) and is Past President of the German Orthopaedic Research Society.
