POSTDOC position on cell-cell communication in epithelial tissues: As part of our brand-new national research consortium HetCCI (DFG-SPP 2493; coordinated by Sandra Iden) the Iden lab has a postdoc vacancy to fill as soon as possible (TV-L 13, full-time, up to 3 years with possibility of extension). The project focuses on interactions between epithelial cells and their non-epithelial neighbors in mammalian skin and will use a range of cutting-edge technologies to identify mechanisms of cell-cell communication. We are looking for a cell biologist with experience in studying direct epithelial cell-cell interactions, or alternatively in sensory neuron or tissue-resident immune cell biology. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in using mouse models (incl. EU function A certification), primary cell systems, and flow cytometry. As member of the HetCCI consortium, the candidate will benefit from regular network meetings across Germany, technical workshops, young scientist retreats, and further career development measures.

Research environment: The postdoc will be part of an international research team, located at the Medical Faculty, Homburg Campus, with state-of-the-art research infrastructure. The Iden lab is an integral part of the interfaculty centers ZHMB  (human and molecular biology) and ZBP (Biophysics), and its research falls into the Saarland University’s research focus area BioMed. We are also member of the cluster project nextAID3, an initiative for a new Cluster of Excellence. Moreover, many of our research projects assess sex-specific differences in the aspects studied (Sandra Iden is one of the spokespersons of the  CGBM). Saarland shares a border to France and Luxembourg (Paris can be reached in less than 2 hours by train), and Saarland University is a trilingual institution, with many collaborations established between the three countries.

If you meet the profile and are interested in the position please contact Sandra Iden or send your application directly as a single pdf to sandra.iden(at)uni-saarland.de (letter of motivation, CV and publication list, certificates, contact details for 2-3 references).

In addition, we currently have vacancies for a PhD student and student assistant.

We also offer BSc, Master or MD thesis projects, which typically need to be arranged at least 6 months in advance.
