Various representatives from our International Office at Saarland University, the University's campus and beyond will be taking part in the Study Abroad Day. At their stands, you can receive detailed advice on your questions, obtain information material and meet new people for your study abroad project.
Below is a brief introduction of the participants so you can get a first impression of what to expect at the event.
The GoOut! Service Center offers initial consultation sessions to students and staff interested in going abroad to study, to acquire new skills or to work as an intern. Whether you're planning a stay in Europe or would like to travel further afield, the team can provide advice on all aspects of studying and interning abroad, including information on available funding options.

The Erasmus+ programme provides financial support to students who want to study at a partner university in one of 48 different host countries. The EU's Erasmus+ programme enables students to study abroad during each higher education cycle (undergraduate, postgraduate or doctoral studies) and supports longer term stays of one or two semesters as well as short-term mobilities of up to one month. Students on the Erasmus+ programme are exempted from tuition fees at the host university and receive financial support to help pay for their stay abroad.

The Erasmus+ programme also provides financial support for internships abroad – giving students interested in working abroad a great opportunity to experience the employment market and workplace culture of another country. Graduates are also eligible for Erasmus+ traineeship funding provided that the application is submitted before graduation and the internship completed during the first twelve months after graduating.

Saarland University maintains special partnerships with eight universities in Eastern Europe. Using funds provided by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), we are able to support language courses, a study or teaching semester or a research stay at partner institutions in Bulgaria, Georgia, Poland and the Czech Republic.

Saarland University's worldwide mobility programme provides study abroad opportunities at partner universities in 18 non-European countries. Participating students are exempted from tuition fees at the host institution.

Transform4Europe is an alliance of ten European universities who share a common vision for higher education in Europe. Transform4Europe offers a wide range of physical and virtual mobility opportunities for students and staff, including exchange semesters, shorter-term stays such as summer schools or the T4EU Week, or academic courses within the alliance's cross-institutional Bachelor Tracks programme.

The University of the Greater Region (UniGR) is a cross-border network of seven universities in four countries (Belgium, Germany, France and Luxembourg). The UniGR network enhances the educational and professional experience of both students and staff by offering financial and organizational support for cross-border study programmes, facilitating access to resources in partner institutions, and promoting interdisciplinary research and projects in the Greater Region.

DAAD ambassadors advise and inform students and research staff about study and research opportunities abroad. They share their own experiences and explain how best to prepare for a stay abroad. As representatives of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), they attend educational fairs and information events, assist with applications, maintain alumni networks and foster intercultural exchange through workshops and seminars.

The Erasmus Student Network (ESN) is an international organization dedicated to supporting and fostering the integration of Erasmus students. ESN provides practical assistance, organizes cultural events and promotes intercultural exchange in order to enrich the experience of Erasmus students and to strengthen their attachment to their host institutions. Many of our European partner universities have local ESN sections who will help to make your stay abroad a rewarding and fulfilling experience.

The Centre for Franco-German Relations (Frankreichzentrum) is the central hub for Franco-German exchange activities at Saarland University. It provides a platform for all events and activities relating to France and other French-speaking regions and maintains strong ties to France, French institutions of higher education and the French academic community. It also provides information to students and acts as the official info point for the Franco-German Youth Office (FGYO) in Saarland.

The Young Ambassadors Programme between Nantes and Saarbrücken promotes intercultural exchange between these two twinned towns. Young ambassadors from both cities spend time in their respective twin town where they help to organize cultural events and provide language teaching support. As one of Saarland University's partner universities, Nantes Université is an attractive destination for students interested in discovering France's west coast. The current Young Ambassador from Nantes will be present at this year's Study Abroad Day, giving students the opportunity to learn more about life in the twin city.

PAD (in German: 'Pädagogischer Austauschdienst') is an organization that was established to enhance international educational cooperation. PAD gives students training to teach modern languages in schools the opportunity to improve their language proficiency, gain intercultural skills and acquire initial teaching experience. PAD ambassadors work as German language teaching assistants in primary and secondary schools in 13 countries around the world.
Target group: Primarily, students studying to become teachers of English, French, Spanish and Italian, but other students on teacher training degree programmes may also apply

The Language Centre offers courses in 17 languages across all CEFR proficiency levels (A1 to C1). Courses are open to all members of the university. Try one of our language courses, tutorials or language meetups – or get in touch with us if you want to take an official language proficiency test.
Target group: Members of Saarland University who just want to try out a new language or are preparing for a research or study semester abroad.
