On 29 November 2023, the oral defence of Mr Sene’s dissertation took place by cotutelle arrangement. As a DAAD doctoral scholarship holder under Professor Ibrahima Diagne of the Université Cheikh Anta DIOP in Dakar and Professor Lüsebrink of Saarland University, he wrote a dissertation entitled Die Geschichtserfahrung des deutschen Kolonialismus in der deutschsprachigen Gegenwartsliteratur (1978-2015). Professor Lüsebrink travelled from Saarbrücken for the oral defence of the dissertation.
Vilmantė Mejerytė and Solveiga Danielkutė, two students from Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas, Lithuania, together with their lecturer Dr. Rūta Eidukevičienė, participated in the workshop on Intercultural Communication and Multilingual Discourse in Academic Teaching, which was organized at Saarland University from 17 to 19 October 2022 within the framework of the Transform4Europe Alliance.
As a former student, doctoral research student and later visiting professor and Saarland University ambassador, Rūta Eidukevičienė was delighted to introduce her students to Saarbrücken and the university and to contribute to their international networking. The students, who are studying German Language and Communication and the Language and Culture of Francophone Countries at their home university, report on their impressions of the trip and the workshop:
"During the workshop organized by Saarland University, we had a great opportunity to get to know the university and its academic community. The workshop was very useful because we were able to put the theoretical part into practice through teamwork. Thanks to this workshop, we learned a lot about studying at the T4EU partner universities, for example about communication practices between lecturers and students, teaching methods and student life. We are very pleased that we had the opportunity to take part in such a workshop and learn so much about multilingualism and multiculturalism."
