Conference: Posthuman Encounters: Desires, Fears, and the Uncanny

A conference on May 19th-21st in Saarbrücken, Germany

We would like to cordially invite you to our upcoming conference next week entitled "Posthuman Encounters: Desires, Fears, and the Uncanny". The conference will take place from Thursday, 19th of May, till Saturday, 21st of May, at the Intercity Hotel in Saarbrücken.
Please find our invitation as well as some important info concerning conference registration below. The conference poster is attached to this email.

This on-site, international conference aims to shed light on the politics, ideologies, and meanings underlying the fictional encounters between the human and the posthuman in the framework of Masahiro Mori's 'Uncanny Valley'. The conference papers will cover a broad range of textual products (novels, film, and TV series) dealing with imaginations of artificial, posthuman entities (in humanoid shape), with their engagements with their human counterparts, and with the humans' responses to them/it.
We are grateful to welcome be Prof. Kevin LaGrandeur (New York Institute of Technology) as our keynote speaker, who will talk about "The Promise and Peril of Digital Brain Enhancement".
On Friday, we will also have a guest talk + discussion by the computer science professor Jilles Vreeken (CISPA Helmholtz Center for IT Security) on the topic "Fear not, or the Impressive Limitations of Modern AI".

The full programme can be found on the conference website: https://www.uni-saarland.de/fakultaet-p/posthuman-encounters.html
