Our experimental research is dedicated to the controlled interaction between light and matter in the quantum mechanical regime. A main objective is to study and to realise the transformation between quantum states of individual photons and single atoms. For this we employ single laser-cooled atoms in atom or ion traps and quantum mechanically entangled photon pairs, as well as optical resonators of high finesse in which light fields are stored and controlled. See below for details.
- Quantum networking tools with ions and photons (in QR.X)
- Dynamics of atoms in a high-finesse resonator (in QuCoLiMa)
- Fiber link across Saarbrücken (in QR.X)
- Optical frequency comb-based laser system for hybrid quantum network nodes (Qsync)
