WS 2020/21 - Experimentalphysik 5a: Physics of Atoms and Molecules

Die Vorlesung behandelt weiterführende Kapitel der Atom- und Molekülphysik:

• Mehrelektronenatome
• Aufbau des Periodensystems
• Kernspin und Hyperfeinstruktur
• Spektren komplexer Atome
• Moderne experimentelle Methoden der Atomphysik
• Einführung in die Molekülphysik: Struktur und Bindung, Molekülspektren

Die Vorlesung richtet sich an Master-Studierende in Physik und Quantum Engineering, an Bachelor-Studierende (bei Vorliegen der Zulassungsvoraussetzungen), sowie an interessierte Hörer anderer Studiengänge.
Vorlesungssprache ist Englisch.

This course covers advanced topics from atomic and molecular physics:

• Multi-electron atoms
• Structure of the periodic system of elements
• Nuclear spin and hyperfine structure
• Spectra of complex atoms
• Modern experimental methods in atomic physics
• Introduction to molecular physics: structure and binding; molecular spectra

The course aims at Master students in Physics and Quantum Engineering, at Bachelor students (fulfilling the admission criteria) and at all interested students from other study programs.
The course is held in English.
