An IEC 61499 Interpretation and Implementation focused on Usability,

Abstract:
Several interpretations and implementations of the IEC 61499 standard have been published. The interpretations have been made with a certain desired runtime behavior in mind. One group of interpretations focuses on providing a well analyzable behavior whereas the others have been proposed to increase runtime performance. However, there has not been an interpretation of the standard having usability in mind. In this contribution a new interpretation of IEC 61499, explicitly focused on usability for beginners in the domain of distributed control, is presented and compared to already published interpretations. Applicability of the interpretation is shown by an implementation based on .NET.
