Jeni Barrirero

Adventuring abroad was a life changing experience that I would wish everybody to go through. After finishing my engineering studies in my home country Argentina, I was awarded with an Erasmus Mundus Fellowship to do the double degree Advanced Materials Science and Engineering Masters Program (AMASE) at Saarland University and at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Barcelona.

Two years living and studying in such an international environment, getting to know cultures so different from mine was so mind-blowing that after finishing masters, I decided to continue my international studies with the Doctoral Program in Materials Science and Engineering (DocMASE). This double degree Program took place at Saarland University and Linkoping University in Sweden. Once again, I had the chance to live and learn from different mindsets and paradigms.

I am now doing Postdoc at the Chair of Functional Materials at Saarland University, where I supervise one of our cutting-edge microscopes, collaborating in projects with international university partners and industries. I can hardly believe that it has been already more than 10 years since this nurturing journey began. I am extremely glad to continue to build spreading networks and make friends around the globe.
